KpH Environmental delivers boiler removal and decommissioning services for commercial and industrial sites across London and the South East. We support projects where boilers are being replaced or removed as part of decarbonisation or plant room works.
Boilers are often integrated into wider mechanical systems and located within confined plant rooms or basements, requiring a planned and methodical approach to removal.
Boiler decommissioning is usually needed when a plant has reached the end of its service life, when buildings transition to alternative heating systems, or where existing installations no longer meet operational/efficiency requirements.
Each project presents different challenges depending on boiler type, size, fuel source and location. Our team assesses these factors upon initial site visits to determine the safest and most efficient removal strategy.
Access routes, lifting requirements and dismantling methods are confirmed before works commence.
Services are isolated and systems safely shut down and drained where required.
The boiler is disconnected from pipework, flues and controls, then dismantled into manageable sections or prepared for lift-out.
Equipment is removed via agreed routes, with lifting operations coordinated where necessary.
Materials are segregated for recycling where possible, and the area is cleared and handed back.

Boilers are commonly located within basement plant rooms or restricted service areas, where access, headroom and removal routes are limited. These environments require a controlled approach to dismantling and extraction.
We assess access routes upon initial site visit, including corridors, stairwells and lifting points, to determine how best to remove the boilers from site. This ensures removal works are carried out safely, without unnecessary disruption to surrounding plant, building fabric or ongoing works.
Health and safety is integral to all boiler decommissioning works we undertake. Site-specific risk assessments and method statements are implemented for every project, including hot works where required.
We also manage materials and waste responsibly, ensuring segregation, recycling and disposal are carried out in accordance with current environmental regulations.
KpH Environmental is experienced in the controlled removal of mechanical plants within challenging environments. Our practical understanding of boiler systems and plant room layouts allows us to deliver removal works safely, efficiently and in support of wider project objectives.
Boiler removal and decommissioning is often delivered alongside our wider mechanical services, including HVAC plant decommissioning, chiller dismantling, AHU removal and full plant room clearance.

If you are planning boiler replacement or plant room refurbishment and require a specialist boiler removal and decommissioning contractor, our team would be happy to discuss your project and provide early technical input.
London has set ambitious Net Zero targets, and across the capital we are seeing increasing momentum behind retrofit, decarbonisation and sustainability-led asset strategies.
Mechanical plant rooms, often hidden below ground and out of sight, can quietly define what is possible when it comes to decarbonising a building.
