KpH Environmental undertakes chiller dismantling and removal for commercial and industrial buildings across London and the South East. We support projects where chillers have reached end of life, are being replaced as part of plant upgrades or need removing to facilitate refurbishment works.
Chillers are often heavy and tightly integrated with M&E and structural systems. Their removal requires controlled dismantling and close coordination with the wider project team.
Unlike smaller HVAC components, chillers present unique challenges due to their location. Units are frequently positioned either in basement plant rooms or rooftop enclosures with limited access for removal.
Each project is assessed individually to determine the most appropriate dismantling and extraction strategy, taking into account access routes, lifting requirements, structural constraints and programme sequencing.
Chiller removal begins with the safe isolation and disconnection of associated services. Units are then dismantled into manageable sections, allowing controlled removal without placing unnecessary strain on the building or surrounding infrastructure.
Where full removal in one piece is not feasible, chillers are broken down on site, with components removed sequentially through agreed routes. We work closely with lifting specialists and structural engineers where required to ensure all movements are planned and executed safely.

Chiller dismantling is often carried out within buildings that remain operational. We regularly deliver works in live commercial offices, hospitals, education facilities and technical environments, where disruption must be carefully managed.
Our team coordinates closely with building management, M&E contractors and principal contractors to ensure works are sequenced appropriately and aligned with wider site activity.

Health and safety is central to all chiller removal works we deliver. Site-specific risk assessments, method statements and permit systems are implemented for every project, including hot works where necessary.
We also manage waste responsibly, ensuring materials are segregated and recycled, with all disposals carried out in line with current environmental legislation.
KpH Environmental is trusted for mechanical dismantling works where experience and attention to detail matter. Our understanding of HVAC and heavy plant removal allows us to deliver dismantling projects in support of wider construction programmes whilst being efficient and safe.

Chiller removal is frequently delivered as part of a broader scope of mechanical or HVAC works. We regularly support projects involving HVAC plant decommissioning, AHU removal, plant room clearance and wider mechanical strip-outs.

If you are planning the replacement and/or removal of chillers and require assistance, our team would be pleased to discuss your project and provide technical input at the early stages.
London has set ambitious Net Zero targets, and across the capital we are seeing increasing momentum behind retrofit, decarbonisation and sustainability-led asset strategies.
Mechanical plant rooms, often hidden below ground and out of sight, can quietly define what is possible when it comes to decarbonising a building.
