Brief Description

Scope of work

  • KpH compiled a set of comprehensive RAMS which set out a safe method of works for the removal of 2no. Underground 10,000ltr RG22 foam filled storage tanks and the cleaning and removal of 1no. 20,000ltr Diesel storage tank.
  • The project needed to be carried out in line with the planning application for the site and to satisfy the local council planning officer. During the project, KpH worked closely with the planning department at the council to ensure the client met the legislation requirements and planning conditions for the project.
  • Utilising a 13 tonne excavator with breaking attachments, a KpH Skilled CPCS operator exposed the crowns of the tanks and used pneumatic shearing equipment to gain access into the tanks.
  • The machine operator set to work removing the RG22 foam from within the 2no. storage tanks, and loaded it directly into 40yard waste bins which were then transported to a licensed facility with the disposal paperwork handed over to the client.
  • With the foam removed KpH excavated the tanks for processing and removal from site.
  • The underground diesel tank was cleaned and degassed via a vacuum tanker with all residual product and washings removed from site to a licensed facility.  On completion the tank was excavated and fragmented using hot cutting techniques.

 

KpH issued tank decommissioning certificates and EA Disposal Paperwork to fulfil local authority planning conditions and industry legislation.
