Whitehorse Business Park

Brief Description

Scope of work

A Heras-fenced exclusion zone was established around the tanks. Following confirmation that the client had drained the vessels, KpH Environmental pumped out and cleaned the bund into IBCs before opening both tanks to assess remaining product.

The plastic tank was cut into manageable sections for removal, while the stainless steel tank was stripped of lagging and lifted out using a mobile crane. Associated gantries, fixtures, and pipework were dismantled, and a rubber-tracked excavator was used to remove all bund walls and plinths down to slab level. All arising materials were removed from site and sent for recycling.

Following removal, KpH Environmental reinstated the area with a new reinforced concrete slab edges to the client’s specification, leaving the site clean and ready for future use.

Key Challenges:

  • Restricted Access: Careful coordination of cranage and lift planning was required due to proximity to the main building.
  • Environmental Controls: All product residues and waste were contained, removed, and disposed of in accordance with environmental regulations.

Outcomes:

The project was completed safely and efficiently, with all works delivered on time and to the client’s satisfaction.

We can safely decommission and remove all types of storage tanks. Want to know more? Contact us or explore our oil tank decommissioning and removal services.
