Brief Description

Scope of work

KpH Environmental developed and implemented a carefully planned method statement for the safe cutting and removal of a redundant water tank located within a live, operational site.

A secure working area was established using Heras fencing and clear signage, with sections of the warehouse and adjacent access road safely segregated to allow works to proceed without disruption to ongoing operations.

Access was created to the side of the tank, and a scaffold tower erected to enable the controlled dismantling of the tank roof into manageable sections using hand tools. The tank was then systematically fragmented using a combination of battery-operated equipment and oxy-propane cutting techniques, selected to suit the proximity of the busy warehouse environment.

All works were delivered to a tight programme by KpH Environmental’s experienced operatives, maintaining high standards of workmanship, health and safety, and site coordination throughout.

Following tank removal, the concrete base was broken out and the area prepared for reinstatement. The breakout zone was set out in advance, and KpH Environmental’s CPCS-certified operator used an excavator to remove the raised circular base to approximately 150mm below ground level.

The area was reinstated with new reinforcement and concrete to match the existing road falls, including the renewal of approximately 20 metres of ACO drainage.

KpH Environmental issued tank decommissioning certificates and EA Disposal Paperwork to fulfil local authority planning conditions and industry legislation.
