Lockheed Martin

Brief Description

Scope of work

    • Full compliance inspection of 9 fuel storage tanks and associated pipework
    • Ultra-sonic thickness testing to assess tank integrity
    • Internal inspection under confined space conditions where external access was restricted
    • Tank cleaning and degassing to enable safe inspection and testing
    • Fuel transfer operations to facilitate access and maintain system functionality
    • Inspection of:
      • Tank surfaces and welds
      • Bunds and containment systems
      • Associated pipework infrastructure
    • OFTEC inspections of additional tanks and fuel systems
    • Provision of a detailed compliance report with recommendations for remedial works

This project required careful coordination due to:

    • Confined space entry for internal inspection and testing
    • Operational site constraints requiring phased access across multiple buildings
    • Management of fuel volumes and safe transfer between tanks
    • Strict adherence to hazardous waste handling and environmental regulations
    • Working within a highly regulated and security-sensitive environment

KpH Environmental delivered a full compliance overview of all tank assets, providing the client with:

    • Verified data on tank condition and structural integrity
    • Clear guidance on maintenance and remedial requirements
    • Assurance that systems aligned with current environmental and safety legislation

This enabled the client to manage risk effectively, plan future works, and maintain compliance across the site.
