Holloway Road, London

Brief Description

Scope of work

  • Break out 6 trial holes within the basement slab in accordance with engineer’s drawings
  • Excavate to 300mm below slab level
  • Collect material samples from each location for laboratory analysis
  • Undertake works using appropriately trained operatives equipped with RPE
  • Coordinate sample testing for asbestos presence
  • Provide a report of findings to inform next project stages

The works were carried out within a confined basement environment, requiring careful planning around:

  • Controlled breakout of the slab to avoid unnecessary disruption
  • Safe handling and containment of potentially hazardous materials
  • Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE and RPE)
  • Coordination with the client team to align with site access and working conditions

The investigation provided the client with clear, site-specific data on material composition, enabling informed decision-making ahead of refurbishment works.

By identifying the presence (or absence) of asbestos at an early stage, the project reduced risk, supported compliance, and allowed subsequent works to be planned with confidence.
