KpH were engaged by clients, Biffa Waste, to undertake Cleaning, de-gassing and demolition of their waste oil treatment plant based in Camberley. The project required KpH to complete the works within a restricted time frame to meet contractual commitments.
Scope of work
Viridor signed the site over to KpH. The site team secured the area and set up welfare facilities to be used by both the Client and KpH staff.
Under the management of KpH all tanks and plant were cleaned and decommissioned using KpH confined space teams. Operatives worked to breakdown and remove sludge and silt that had built up over a period of years.
KpH utilised high-pressure jetting equipment to breakdown waste product that was uplifted by the client’s vacuum tankers.
Once a gas free certification had been issued by KpH, Operatives proceeded to dismantle the tanks and plant. Using hot cutting techniques, skilled Operatives dismantled the plant, with the majority of heavy lifting and processing works being carried out by a 20-tonne excavator fitted with a rotating grab.
KpH experienced CPCS Machine Operator ensured the plant was deconstructed using safe dismantling techniques, working at long-reach, reducing manual handling and maintaining a safe working environment.
KpH organised the crane lift and transportation of plant fragments to the Client’s new premises.
All perimeter fencing was removed at the end of the project to allow Viridor to hand the site back over to Thames Water.
The project was completed within the timescale and handed over early to Viridor on budget.
