Brief Description:
We were awarded the project by CBRE, to remove 1no 4,500ltr tank from a tank room at Tower Bridge, London. Tower Bridge is a Grade I listed combined bascule and suspension bridge in London, built between 1886 and 1894.Scope of Works:
- Due to the location of the tank room, a restricted working area was sectioned off with clear Health & Safety warning signs
- Operatives set up a gas monitor to continually monitor the LEL levels around the tank and take readings and record every 15 mins ensuring that works were carried out in the safest possible conditions
- A vacuum tanker was set up at the closest point possible and hose run out into the tank and the remaining product uplifted
- The tank was cleaned and associated pipework drained and flushed through as much as practicably possible to the boilers
- Due to no hot works permitted in the area KpH used cold cutting methods to dismantle the vessel
- Skilled team worked in restricted conditions breaking the tank down to manageable sections for removal to a licensed facility
